St Andrews Cross (Argiope keyserlingi) is an orb-web spider common on Australia's east coast, recognized for the distinctive "X" shape it builds in its web, called a stabilimentum. Females are medium-sized with bright yellow and reddish-brown or maroon-brown bands on their abdomen and are often found with much smaller, brown males on the web periphery. They are harmless to humans, though they may bite if grabbed.
