Strawberry Trapdoor Spider (Cataxia babindaensis)

Cataxia babindaensis is a species of mygalomorph spider, commonly called the strawberry trapdoor spider, that is endemic to Australia. It is a rare and large species, growing up to 45mm, with a reddish carapace and legs and a banded abdomen. The spider is found in the rainforests of Far North Queensland, lives in burrows with a hinged lid, and is an ambush predator.$45$
