Wood Scorpion (Cercophonius squama) is a mild-venom species native to southeastern Australia and Tasmania, known for its yellowish-brown to orange-brown body and its habit of living in burrows under leaf litter or under tree bark. These nocturnal arachnids are not considered dangerous, though their sting can be painful, and they are beneficial in gardens as they prey on other small invertebrates. They can grow up to 5 cm long and females can give birth to 20-30 live young at a time.
